So Many Bowls | still life photography
Where do you find inspiration for your still life photography? For me, it can be just about anywhere, anytime. But, one of my favorite sources of inspiration is a huge antique store called the Antique Trove which is not too far away. The variety and assortment of furniture, linens, kitchen utensils, tools can keep me busy looking for hours. And, there are so many bowls! I particularly love a booth that carries flour sacks and lots of wooden items. But, my inventory of flour sacks is already pretty complete, I think.
Bowls
I met a friend there recently to do some browsing. When she asked what I was looking for, I replied that I wasn't really searching for anything in particular. Just looking. As the morning progressed, I realized that I was accumulating containers, namely, bowls. And, I came home with quite an assortment of them. Different sizes, different colors, different glazes. I probably won't need anymore bowls for awhile.
Inspiration
My inspiration for fine art still life can come in many forms. Found objects in my everyday, my garden, contents of my cupboards, family heirlooms, and yes, the antique store as well. How about you? Where do you find inspiration for your still life photography, or other genres of photography? Are you looking for a break in your everyday? Join me for my Life Exposed still life photography workshop/retreat on the northern California coast this fall. All levels are welcome. It's a still life workshop, a retreat, a getaway, a time to bond with other female photographers, a chance to explore and photograph the area. Find out more here: Life Exposed
