Camp Fire Two Year Anniversary

It's been exactly two years since the Camp Fire in Paradise, California occurred. There have been so many heartbreaking stories told and pictures viewed. The destruction of an entire town is unbelievable at best. And, yet, that's exactly what happened.After two years of working to put the city back together progress is being made. Crews were working everywhere. But there is an unbelievable amount of repairing, rebuilding still needed. Many residents say they will rebuild. They will go back because Paradise is their home, regardless. But many have also said just the opposite. No way will they go back. Some have moved far away, while others are continuing to live in shelters close-by or in temporary camp trailers on their lots. And it will still take years more to rebuild. Utilities. Water. Power. Cell coverage. Internet. All gone. But, now, mostly back.These images are of my son's home site once the evacuation controls were lifted about six weeks after the fire eliminated most of the town and the rain washed some of the ash away. His home is one of so very many. 

Camp Fire Aftermath

Dryer and Washer Old Toyota Stout with the windshield melted right on to the hood. His beloved 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 is completely gutted. Street view, living room, and bed box springs. Front door, water heater, and Uncle Kevin's flight helmet from Vietnam. Refrigerator, water heater and toolbox, and the kitchen sink complete with dirty dishes. Fortunately, my son is now living on his lot in a new mobile home with running water and all basic utilities. We are still waiting on permits for pouring cement, putting up a garage, and landscaping the yard. He is fortunate to be as far along with the rebuilding process as he is. Most are not.
