Face Rock | Bandon | northern California photographer
As I mentioned in my previous post on Bandon, Oregon, the coastal landscape is full of rock formations. Some of the sea stacks have names. Face Rock is unmistakable in that from both angles on the beach (north and south), there is definitely a face! Nature is so creative in her design! I'd love to take a boat out to it someday and really investigate it. I bet it looks nothing like a face close up. There are legends, too, about these unique stacks. So instead of me re-telling the Legend of Face Rock, I'll share the link with you so you can read it for yourself HERE. It's a rather sad story about Princess Ewana forever looking up at the sky.
"This grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never all dried at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal sunset, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls."
