Falls in Mount Rainier NP
What is it about waterfalls that draws our attention? The power? The sound? The force? Or, perhaps it's all of those things and more. While making a quick visit to Mount Rainier National Park, I visited several of the falls there.Since I was on a tight timeline, I photographed them as I saw them. Full sun and all. I won't complain about the harsh light (well, maybe I just did), but I'd love to go back and shoot them again when the light is more favorable.
Narada Falls
The first view is from the trail across the canyon. You can see a person in their red jacket on the upper left. The falls were roaring and spray was heavy! I use a shower cap to cover my lens until I was ready to snap. Here's the view from the top of the falls where the water spills over. I'm standing close to where the red jacket person was standing in the previous image. Again, lots of spray and noise, but what a great rainbow!
Christine Falls and Bridge
This is a very accessible view. There are often lots of people and cars so it's a challenge to find a suitable parking place, and then wait until the bridge is clear of automobiles to snap.
Stevens Creek Falls
These falls are right off the road, but somewhat hidden. They're probably my favorite of the ones I stopped to photograph. Are you looking for a break in your everyday? Join me for my Life Exposed still life photography workshop/retreat on the northern California coast this fall. All levels are welcome. It's a still life workshop, a retreat, a getaway, a time to bond with other female photographers, a chance to explore and photograph the area. Find out more here: Life Exposed
