Free Lensing for a Fine Art Expression
If you've been following my work, you know that I started a Project 366 for this year. That's one photo a day, each day of the year, shot, edited, and posted. When the directive to stay at home was implemented, I found that I needed more of a focus with my photography. One of the mini projects within this project was shooting the night sky from my backyard. The next technique I tried was double exposures in-camera followed by free lensing. These techniques have been a wonderful challenge, inspiring, and gave a new direction for shooting. For those who are not familiar with free lensing, it is the process of detaching the lens from the camera body and holding it at a slight angle near the camera body to give somewhat a tilt-shift feel. Or, rather, holding the lens to create a slight blur while keeping a portion of the frame in focus.
Free Lensing
Here are a few of the free lensing images that resulted from that practice:The above image is of some yarn/string balls that my mother made. Each one is different and so unique.
