Lassen Volcanic National Park {northern California photographer}

Lassen Volcanic National Park came on my radar when I was wanting to photograph the Milky Way.  I was looking for a place that would be out of the ambient light of the city at night.  After searching for locations, I discovered Lassen as a viable location.  The landscape there is rugged and full of geothermal activity.  It IS a volcano, after all.  As much as I loved capturing the night sky there (What I Learned Photographing the Night Sky), the days were full of hiking and viewing nature it all her beauty.

One of the very best things about Lassen is that it is not at all crowded.  It's bittersweet, really.  We were happy to have few fellow visitors. The trails and viewing areas were not crowded.  Yet, it is such a beautiful place, it's a shame more people are not there to enjoy it.  It's not a particularly large park as far as national parks go.  Certainly not as big as Yellowstone, but it has some of the bubbling mud, sulfur springs, and other features similar to Yellowstone.
