String Lake | northern California landscape photographer
I've been to the Jackson Hole area and the Grand Teton National Park a few times. And, I must say, it NEVER disappoints. Generally, I know the main loop in the area and the features along the way. However, on this trip we ventured to String Lake. It wasn't far off the loop. I had just never taken the turn to go there. It was really cold that day as it had snowed the previous day/night. There were still a few flurries on my final full day there. But it was incredible! The clouds, the setting sun, the low fog, and those few snow flakes made for a most dramatic drive through the park. The sun played hid-and-seek for a bit. But then, finally, was overcome by the clouds. We photographed the dramatic scenes along the way to our String Lake destination. And, although it was FREEZING, we loved it!
“We are now in the mountains and they are in us, kindling enthusiasm, making every nerve quiver, filling every pore and cell of us.”
~ John Muir, My First Summer in the Sierra
