Waterfalls on the Coquille River, Oregon | northern California photographer
There's something mesmerizing about waterfalls. They are loud. They rarely stop. Many are often surrounded by the beauty and seclusion of a forest. This is one of the waterfalls on the Coquille River, Oregon, east fork.
We had a beautiful drive to this location on some narrow, rough country roads. But the surrounding landscape was engaging with the diversity of wild growth and farmland, old barns and houses, grazing cattle and horses. A few dogs ran out to bark at us to sound the alarm and chase us on our way.
When we reached our destination, the only problem we had was where to begin photographing this lovely area. Although I took photos of the large waterfall we first came to, I walked up the road a bit and found this inspiring sight. I had this location to myself which I loved. Nature is astounding.
'As long as I live, I'll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I'll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm, and the avalanche. I'll acquaint myself with the glaciers and wild gardens, and get as near the heart of the world as I can.'
