Yosemite Valley Not So Iconic Scenes
While visiting Yosemite Valley in February before the 'shelter at home' directive, I made it a point to photograph things that I do not usually shoot. Or, at least photograph those scenes from a different perspective if possible. It was a bit challenging at first because those iconic locations that we all recognize are iconic for a reason. They are breathtaking in real life so it's a natural desire to want to capture that beauty as best we can in a photograph. My original intention for going to Yosemite in February was to photograph the amazing phenomena that is referred to as Firefall. The Firefall occurs when the sun hits the Horsetail Falls at just the right angle to make it appear as if it were on fire. Horsetail Falls is a seasonal fall. That is, it is not always running unless there is a lot of water as in winter and spring. Unfortunately, this year, we are experiencing another drought in California so Horsetail Falls was dry. Click on this link to see my images of the Firefall from 2017.Nevertheless, the awe-inspiring beauty of Yosemite remains.
Not So Iconic Scenes
If you've spent much time in Yosemite Valley, you can recognize just about any location. Give it a try. Any that you don't recognize? Of course, I've thrown in a few of the icons, too. Just had to!
