Mistakes Are Often Made | Wall Decor | Sacramento photographer
Mistakes are often made in many areas of our lives. Today, I want to talk about a very common mistake. It's truly NOT an important problem, but a mistake that has an effect nonetheless. Leaving an appliance on that causes a fire. That's a mistake and a problem. Following another car too closely, they quickly stop, and you rear end them. That's a mistake and a problem. You get the idea. Real mistakes, real problems. So I almost feel embarrassed talking about this mistake. But here goes. Wall decor.
Wall Decor
I know. It's silly, but hear me out. Many of us choose wall art that is too small for the wall on which we are placing it. I have been guilty of this for years, and there are still a few items on my walls that are too small for the given space (soon to be corrected), I hope. Let me show you what I'm talking about. Here's a nice living room with nice furniture, a beautiful, substantial leather sofa and a gorgeous print (Yes, the print is mine but not the room.) on the wall THAT IS TOO SMALL. There are other issues as well, but I'm not a decorator and so I won't even go there. My point is the picture looks lost on that big wall with that heavy looking couch. Beautiful wall art. Beautiful furniture. But, they do nothing for each other. Now let's see what this room looks like with large prints that really balance out the wall and the large leather sofa. What a difference! The scale of the artwork matches the scale of the furniture and the wall. This is so much more appealing. The art work reduces the visual importance of the sofa and really gives your eye something more to view. In the previous picture, there was just so much wall exposed that I bet your eyes just kept searching that empty space. Here we have balance between the wall decor and the furniture. I know some of you hesitate to purchase large scale custom canvases or prints because you are afraid they might not look good, and you've "just spent all that money". I get it. Nobody wants to be disappointed. Please let me help you with that. I can show you what some of my photography will look like in any given spot IN YOUR OWN HOME. If you see an image you'd love to have from my Etsy Shop or anywhere else on my website, but are concerned about how it will look, please let me show you. We can try different sizes and configurations to arrive at the best wall art for your rooms and you!By the way, this works well with portraits too!
