Rowing on the River | Northern California Fine Art Photographer
When arising early in the morning when it is still dark to go out and photograph something, there is never really any insurance that conditions will be just right. There are lots of apps for offering information about conditions, and they can be quite accurate; but the bottom line is, you just don’t know for sure.
Cemetery on the Coast | Sacramento Fine Art Photographer
Toward the top of the rolling hills near the coast, my friend and I discovered yet another cemetery that had been part of the community for a very long time. While the sun was shining maybe a bit too strongly and the breeze was blowing just perfectly, I felt such peace in this lovely location. The headstones in the cemetery were modest although there was plenty of evidence of love and remembrance. Many of the headstones were handmade/carved; some were painted, some were not. I don't usually convert my images, but this set seemed to tell the story best in black and white.
Alaska’s Glacier Bay National Park
In the summer of 2022, I embraced an adventure unlike any other I’d ever been on. I boarded a small (10 people total) vintage boat, the DavidB built in 1929, to explore Glacier Bay, Alaska. It was a photographer’s trip/workshop with a knowledgeable photographer leading the workshop who offered suggestions for photographing Glacier Bay National Park and in-depth editing techniques.
Forests of the Northern California State Parks
Surrounding oneself with nature is a sure way to renew, de-stress, and relax. That is exactly how I felt while visiting the beautiful coast and forests of the Northern California State Parks last summer. Because it is a bit remote in many areas, there is no cell coverage and no internet.
Sandhill Cranes in the Valley | Nature in Northern California
As my interests evolved in photography subjects, I became interested in wildlife and, ultimately, birds. Because birds are everywhere, they are just such a great subject. Each year during the winter there are thousands of sandhill cranes in the valley who over-winter here.
