I'm sharing a few of my favorite still life images from each month of 2018. This was really a great challenge, a hard one at that. And it gave me a purpose for some self evaluation and reflection of my work. I feel like it is always good to look back with fresh eyes and evaluate your creative work regardless of the medium you choose.
After a cup of coffee and a morning walk, my days continue in the garden with watering, weed pulling, filling the bird feeders, and generally enjoying the sights and sounds of the morning. The flower garden has become somewhat of a still life garden full of possibilities for photography subjects. I suppose that is true of the vegetable garden as well. I often use some of the blossoms from the still life garden as accents within the still life images I'm creating.
Although I enjoy gardening, my flower garden is a learning process. I intended to grow flowers so that I could have a never ending supply of fresh bouquets. That hasn't really happened, but I can find many flower treasures among the weeds and dirt.

As a published, featured northern California fine art photographer living in the greater Sacramento area, I specialize in fine art landscape and still life photography. My style is authentic, fresh and personality-driven. I offer several educational opportunities including workshops and photography mentoring. You can learn about them by going to SERVICES or WORKSHOPS. While currently living in rural northern California with my husband and a couple thousand walnut trees, I post regularly to Instagram.

A very popular subject for still life photography is food. In fact, many people would consider food photography a genre of its own. And, I can see why.
