Rockaway Beach at Sunrise {northern California photographer}

Recently I spent a week on the Oregon coast for a workshop on photographing seascapes. Since I had visited (and LOVED) the Oregon coast landscape last year, I jumped at the chance to attend this workshop presented by Candace Dyer and Hillary Younger. We started in the northern area of the Oregon coast. The little town of Rockaway Beach was our first 'base' from which we photographed for several days. (You'll be hearing more about the workshop in future posts.)

I had arrived a day early just to soak up some of that delightful Oregon coast. And, I must say, I was not disappointed. On my first afternoon there I explored around Cape Meares and enjoyed a foggy day at the beach. You can read more about that on my Serenity post here. The first day of the workshop, we did not officially meet in the morning as not all attendees were there. But several of us headed out to the beach area at Rockaway Beach bright and early... make that dreary and early. But, once the sun started to rise, what a show the sky provided for us! Fog, clouds, rain, sun, and YES, a rainbow. From 5:47 to 6:22 am, this is what we observed and photographed. Lucky us!
